DESCRIPTION:The Tony Award-winning musical\, which was first conceived locally at the Barrington Stage Company in 2004\, follows the trials and tribulations of six pre-teen spellers at their regional spelling bee\, where the winner gets to go on to the national bee in Washington\, D.C. As the show progresses\, we see the inner struggles and joys for each of the six children\, along with the three adults who are running the bee. Highly improvisational\, no two productions are the same and audience participation occurs at every performance as four audience members are selected to join the spellers on stage to compete in the bee. Containing iconic musical theater songs such as the show-stopping “Pandemonium” and heart-wrenching “The I Love You Song\,” audiences have packed theaters across the country for this beloved show.
